Beer Garden to Bloom

Beer Garden to Bloom

Brownstoner points to an interview in Brooklyn Based with restaurateur Ted Mann, who currently runs nine places in Brooklyn. Apparently he's set to open a big new one this summer:

He’s also building out a beer garden on 19th Street and Seventh Avenue that he’s hoping to have open by July. The as-of-yet unnamed spot will be able to seat 700-800 in the 10,000 square-foot outdoor garden alone, and another 100-150 in the 3,000-square-foot interior.

Speculation puts it in the lot at 555 7th Avenue, at 19th Street, where, says Brownstoner, "a permit for a one-story extension and renovation for an eating and drinking establishment was approved last September." How will the surrounding neighborhood feel about an enormous new drinking establishment that could draw nearly 1,000 people? We'll have to wait and see their reaction to this plan by Mann (who recently discovered his birth father is Ted Nugent!). I can't imagine the people in the newly-built HighPoint Condominiums across the street will love it.
