With the Summer upon us, and folks out and about on their bikes, the 66th Precinct reminds that it is a good idea to have your bike registered with the police.
On Sunday, June 13th, 2010 there will be an"Anti-Theft Bicycle registration" from 12:00PM to 5:00PPM located at P.S. 192 (schoolyard) at 4715 18th Avenue. If you have any questions please contact PO James Vaughn, Crime Prevention Officer, at 718.851.5620.
The way it works:
Bicycle is marked with an identification number using an engraver. A decal is affixed to the bicycle, which is difficult to remove. In the event that it is removed "void" appears on what remains of the decal. In the event that the bicycle is stolen and recovered, it can be traced back to the owner through I.D. number.
