Botanic Art Quilt Show at the Windsor Terrace Library

The Windsor Terrace Library is hosting “Botanical Inspirations,” a Botanic Art Quilt Show from the Quilters’ Guild of Brooklyn. It opens Wednesday, January 4, with a reception from 6-7:30pm, and runs through February 7. Here's more information from the Guild:

The show features 22 quilts with a botanic theme. All are 20x20 inches in size, yet they offer a wide array of interpretations and color.

“Botanical Inspirations” grew out of a challenge held during the summer of 2011 at the Quilters’ Guild of Brooklyn, a group with more than 100 members. “The challenge offered quilters the opportunity to go beyond the familiar and comfortable. Here we present the very personal responses to the botany theme in designs that have been inspired by poems, the mind’s eye, photos, nature’s tenacity and quilters’ experiences,” according to challenge organizers Madi Appell and Michele Kucker.

Guild members showing their botanical-theme quilts include Eileen Anderson, Madi Appell, Jean Arena, Robyn Bellamy, Barb Christ, Judith Hoffman Corwin, Joyce Crupi, Ginny Dorris, Margaret Marcy Emerson, Marilynn Gipson, Merrie Handfinger, Lyn Hill, Ruby Horansky, Christine Janove, Dess Kelley, Michele Kucker, Jody Leight, Linda McNelly, Anne Stone Oppenheimer, Valerie Turer, and Thomas Urciuoli.

Two special events--both free--will be featured during the run of the show. An open forum called “Quilting for Adults” will be held on Wednesday, January 18, from 6:30-7:30pm. And children ages 3-6 can learn about quilting on Saturday, January 28, at 11am.
