Brancaccio's Food Shop

Brancaccio's Food Shop

Squarely in the heart of Kensington is Joe Brancaccio's just opened Brancaccio's Food Shop. We stopped by on Friday and had some 5 Cheese Macaroni with white Truffle butter, and a heavenly Caponata (Sicilian ratatouille); and walked over today for some sandwiches. Joe shops in the morning, and cooks up the food in time for lunch and dinner - it is sold by the pound, the prices are reasonable, and the quality of the food is wonderful. Hours have been somewhat flexible, opening around 11am and closing between 8-9pm. Though he said the other night he was open past 9.

Joe lives in Brooklyn Heights, and worked his way through the kitchens of Manhattan and Brooklyn Italian restaurants (Urbino in West Village, Lundy’s in Sheepshead Bay, Agata & Valentina on the Upper East Side), before joining as the executive chef at Kidfresh. And now a store of his own, serving up absolutely delicious Italian food to go.

Why Kensington? "I just fell in love with the space", Joe says, and we hope he'll like it well enough to stay a long time. What a wonderful addition.

Location: Fort Hamilton Parkway between E2nd and E3rd Streets - get off at the front of the train at Fort Hamilton F stop, walk over, or drive over - parking is easy.

Hours: 11ish-8ish
