Brooklyn Prospect Bans Students from Hugging
The new rule was enacted to curb disruptive social time, say school officials.

Windsor Terrace’s Brooklyn Prospect Charter School has banned hugging between classes in an effort to reduce disruptions and tardiness, according to the Brooklyn Paper.
“It’s a time, place, and manner thing,” principal Dan Rubinstein told the Paper. “We don’t want students spending too much social time between class.”
The article says that the rule was put in place three months ago, as a response to a sixth graders complaint that hugs from an older student made her feel uncomfortable.

Students claim that the ban is really meant to curb group hugs, which block the hallway, and the Paper says that threats of recess detention still aren’t deterring some from embracing.
Brooklyn Prospect Charter School made news last week, when it announced it would be in the building that once housed Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic school.
