Buy My Apartment, I'll Throw in the Car!

The real estate market has been tough, but a story in the Times suggests it's tougher than we thought. Neighbor Gary Parker is trying to sell his one-bedroom co-op at 370 Ocean Parkway, and he recently realized he had a great incentive:

Putting his co-op on the market and deciding he would move to Hell’s Kitchen, he realized he would not need the [claret-colored 2002 Hyundai Elantra] anymore.

At first, he considered donating the car, which has a Kelley Blue Book value of about $4,300, to charity, but then his sister suggested he throw it in along with the apartment.

“I thought, ‘What a nice thank you gift that would be.'”

The apartment, which is on the 11th floor of a building that has a doorman but doesn't allow pets, is listed for $298,000, with a monthly maintenance of $489. If you're interested, there's an open house on Sunday, August 7, from noon to 1:30pm--not sure if the cassette-player-equipped Hyundai is on the tour, though.
