Normally I'd think camping in Prospect Park would be, well, ill-advised, but this sounds pretty fun! The Urban Park Rangers are doing a bunch of camping dates at parks around the city, and registration just opened for the first Prospect Park date. Families just need to bring sleeping bags and ghost stories, and the Rangers take care of the rest--they'll serve a cookout dinner, help you set up the tents they provide, then lead a variety of activities such as stargazing and night hikes.
There are 30 spots available for the Friday, July 22 family camping event, and registration is done by a lottery. Today is the window to register, you can only register once per household per event, and you'll get a call after the registration is closed if you've been selected.
