Christmas Tree Shopping

While there aren't too many places to pick up a Christmas tree in the area, the few options are excellent. Prices, sizes, and quality vary--if you have a favorite that you go to year after year, or if there's someplace that we missed, let us know.

J&L Landscaping (702 Caton Ave at E 7th): If you have a huge space, they have a huge tree for you at $200. Otherwise you're looking at a big selection, with medium trees starting at $45.

Shanon Florist & Nursery (3380 Fort Hamilton Parkway): Just slightly out of the way, but they also have a large selection of trees. A four-foot tree is about $30, and prices go up from there.

Tom Foley (8th Ave and 8th Street): Tom is a PS 230 parent and local Christmas tree salesman who is donating $10 to the PS 230 PTA for every tree sold. You must mention PS 230 when you purchase your tree. If PS 230 supporters purchase more than 200 trees, the school will receive an additional 50% donation from Tom. Bonus: He delivers for free! For more info, call him at 718-290-5868.

If you need some tips on picking out a great tree, both Tom and J&L's Larry Barbieri offer shopping advice in a Daily News article from this week.
