A neighbor emails wondering where to get Christmas trees in our neighborhood this year, especially for folks without cars?
There are two main spots: J&L Nursery on Caton & East 7th, and Shannon's Nursery up on Fort Hamilton Parkway by the Cemetery (two short blocks from Dahill Road). They both have an excellent selection of fabulous trees, and a very good range of prices.
If you are not getting a big tree, and have one of those laundry/shopping carts every New Yorker seems to have, we'd suggest sticking a sturdy cardboard box on the bottom and asking the guys to put the tree in, after it has been tied up. For bigger trees or if you just don't want to deal with bringing the tree over yourself, Shannon's will deliver ($15 extra), and J&L may too.
