Church Avenue Improvements

Church Avenue Improvements

The NYC Department of Transportation is keeping itself busy this Summer by doing a ton of improvements to Church Avenue.  In addition to repaving of Church from Old New Utrecht Road to Coney, the following changes are expected to be implemented over the Summer, according to concilmember Brad Lander's office.

Church Avenue and McDonald Avenue:

  • Installation of new bus shelters on both sides of Church Avenue

  • Installation of bulb-outs and pedestrian ramps

  • Beverly Road, between Church Avenue and E. 2nd Street:

    • Narrow Beverly Road with wider sidewalks and bulb-outs

    • Restripe crosswalks, stop bars and other pavement markings

    • Improve signal timing

    • Ocean Parkway and Church Avenue:

      • Raised pedestrian refuge island and median extension

      • New pedestrian signals

      • New pavement markings to discourage illegal left turns from the southbound service road

      • Upgrade No Turn signs

      • "Yield to Pedestrian" signs at all approaches

      • Restriping of crosswalks, stopbars and other pavement markings

      • Improve Signal timing and offset changes

      • Here is a full copy of the work DOT is doing at key Church Avenue intersections.  Please let our Councilmember Brad Lander know if you think the improvements make a difference. His office is located  at 456 5th Avenue, 3rd Floor, Brooklyn, NY 11215. (718) 499-1090.
