Dog of the Week - Rachel

Dog of the Week - Rachel

First - the good news - Rock, the dog we wrote about last week - has been adopted to a good home! Let's hope there is someone out there looking to adopt Rachel:
Rachel - a  beautiful six year old Cane Corso is waiting to be adopted at the Sean Casey Animal Rescue Shelter. Rachel is a bit shy and it takes time for her to warm up, but she is very well behaved and obedient.

Rachel came to the shelter as a stray about a year ago. She was adopted out to a family in Connecticut who had her for several months. One day, the family's other dog randomly attacked Rachel, which led to a fight between the two dogs in front of their young daughter. The daughter became terrified of Rachel at which point they decided to bring her back to the shelter, and she's been here for a few months now.

She's a wonderful, laid back, fully trained dog. Her intimidating looks combined with her past have scared potential adopters off, but she would be a wonderful addition to the right family. Do stop by the shelter and spend time with Rachel to see if she is the right match for you.

The staff at Sean Casey will answer any questions you may have, and give advice about transitioning Rachel to your home. Like all the other dogs at the shelter, she is spayed, dewormed, treated with Revolution to prevent fleas, ticks, ear mites and heart worm and is up to date with vaccinations. Her adoption fee is $200.00 and she'll get one free exam at their vet's office, one free month of pet health insurance and a microchip.

Sean Casey Animal Rescue shelter is open daily from 11am to 7pm, E3rd street between Caton Avenue and Fort Hamilton Parkway.

Even if you can't adopt a dog (or cat, or parrot) right now, please consider stopping by the shelter and taking one for a walk. The best time is around lunchtime - 11-1 or so, while they clean the place, but anytime is welcome. They will match you with a dog that you'll be comfortable with. Some other ways to help: they are always in need of rolls of paper towels, bleach, other cleaners, old newspapers and plastic bags. Just bring them by!
