CAMBA’s Holiday Food Drive has just begun, and continues through December, and they could use your non-perishable canned and packaged foods.
CAMBA is a Brooklyn-based non-profit that does a whole range of good for the borough, from economic development and youth programs to homelessness prevention and HIV/AIDS services. One major service they provide is the Beyond Hunger Emergency Food Pantry, located in Flatbush, which serves over 5,000 people a year--and the demand has increased 183% over the past year.
The items most needed include rice, beans, fruit, vegetables, pasta, canned tuna/salmon/chicken, canned or dried milk, cereal, peanut butter, and 100% fruit juice.
You can drop off items at any CAMBA location--the closest is the Park Slope Women’s Shelter at 1402 8th Avenue.
If you're a school, association, or some other kind of group and you're interested in organizing a food drive or another activity to support the pantry and/or raise hunger awareness, please contact Lucila (LucilaS@camba.org) at 718-282-3082.
Cash donations are also welcomed--see the CAMBA site for more information on how to give.
