Last year, 18-year-old neighbor Jake McDonaugh was struck by a car and killed while riding his bike along Flatbush Ave. The driver, Michael Oxley, was acquitted on charges of criminally negligent homicide yesterday, reports the New York Post.
Reports had said Oxley ran a red light before colliding with McDonaugh, but surveillance video from a nearby restaurant convinced the jury otherwise. Oxley was instead found guilty of driving with a suspended license and speeding--which somehow gets him just 10 days in jail.
