Join advocates, victims, youth, faith leaders, community organizations, elected officials, healthcare workers, unions and artists as we hold a massive rally against gun violence! Too many families, communities and congregations have been devastated by gun violence, and it’s time we stood up for common sense protections.
We must support the NY SAFE Act, which recently became law and protects families by requiring mental health and criminal background checks, limiting ammunition capacity, banning military-style assault weapons and keeping guns out of schools. There is new urgency to defend the NY SAFE Act as big weapons and the gun lobby have tried to build opposition and challenges to the law.
The NY SAFE Act should be used as a model for federal legislation and state laws throughout America. Join with us March 21!
TONY BENNETT AND REV. AL SHARPTON will be speaking at this event! Other speakers will include: Shannon Watts, founder of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America; Leah Gunn Barrett, executive director of New Yorkers Against Gun Violence; Darren Wagner, a former sheriff's deputy and founder of Newtown Action Alliance; and George Gresham, president of 1199SEIU, the health and hospital workers' union. Stay tuned for additions!
This rally is sponsored by New York Voices Against Gun Violence, a broad coalition that includes Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America, The Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence, New Yorkers Against Gun Violence, Doctors For America, the Million Mom March-NY, Organizing For Action to Reduce Gun Violence, and many other groups.
