A really nice story in the Journal about neighbor Steven Joerg, who's managed, against the odds, to nurture the city's avant-garde jazz scene with his own label:

Mr. Joerg has run AUM Fidelity out of a series of Brooklyn apartments, his Windsor Terrace home being the latest, becoming a mainstay of the vibrant downtown jazz scene across the East River. The father of a new baby girl, his life isn't getting any easier, but he still sees the need for his label. He was in his element last week as he manned his table full of merchandise at the 16th annual Vision Festival, selling some of the 70 albums he's released in the nearly 15 years of AUM Fidelity. While some labels specializing in jazz's avant-garde release an endless stream of barebones discs recorded live in concert, Mr. Joerg often produces his albums in a studio.

Many of his artists are performing this week, the story says, at The Stone in the East Village.
