The Friends of Greenwood Playground is a group of community members who work to make Greenwood Playground (at the corner of Ft. Hamilton Parkway and East 5th Street) a neighborhood meeting place for Kensington and Windsor Terrace. If you're interested in helping out, the group meets on the first Sunday of every month--stop by the Oak and the Iris Cafe (2826 Fort Hamilton Parkway at E. 4th) this Sunday, March 6, 9 - 10:30am.
KARMABrooklyn has some more details about this month's meeting:
This month, we'll be talking about the Spring Craft & Flea Market and how to keep the playground a safe, fun, and beautiful place in spite of the massive budget cuts at the Parks Department. We will also discuss YOUR ideas of what we can do at the playground. It's OUR public space! The possibilities are endless. Roller derby fitness class exists because one member suggested it. Another member is interested in bringing dance classes to the playground.
The group does a lot of really great work in the community. If you've been looking for a way to get involved in something local, this is a great opportunity!
