Garbage, garbage everywhere

Garbage, garbage everywhere

Walking around was not all pretty in the neighborhood this weekend.

Cortelyou stretch between OP and McDonald was covered in litter, some of which had clearly been there a while. Many new trees were planted last spring and fall, but unless they get some kind of protection by way of tree guards, who knows how long they will last. Right now many tree pits resemble garbage receptacles. Time for a neighborhood wide spring cleanup?

Over by the proposed Culver El affordable housing project, the only stretch that was clean and pleasant was in front of the Bergament and its parking lot. The rest of it - a dump. Abandoned mattraces, and assorted household trash, on top of street litter. Just shows that it is possible to keep the streets clean, assuming one cares.
