Our sites are about to get even better.

Since launching the Ditmas Park Blog five years ago, we’ve been working to find a way to meet our readers’ very high standards. But it’s been a struggle at times, and particularly over the last few months: We all have other (full-time) jobs, and there was no one fully dedicated to providing you with the kind of high quality, engaging, useful, interesting and reported content that you’ve grown accustomed to.

Well, starting Monday, the Ditmas Park Blog and its sister sites, including Kensington Prospect, will finally be getting the kind of resources, staff, and attention they deserve. Some of you may have suspected this was a possibility when I took the job of National Community Editor at Patch.com in April. I’m happy to announce that going forward, our sites will be owned and operated by Patch Media.

Mary has also joined the Patch team, and will now be working for the sites full time, and with the kinds of resources and support that will allow us to do more of everything -- the serious and the whimsical, plus in-depth reporting. I am incredibly grateful for Mary’s hard work to keep the sites going on top of a full-time job, and I look forward to working with her on taking the blogs to the next level, while keeping them in tune with our neighborhood’s stories and needs.

As for me, I am thrilled to be working for Patch, and could not be happier about the direction the company is heading. It is led by brilliant people, who are incredibly dedicated to creating the best online platform for content, community, and commerce  to come together for hyperlocal communities like ours. It perfectly fits my vision for where I wanted to take the sites, and I truly believe that becoming part of the Patch family puts our sites on the right path, and the fast track.

What this means to you:  Business as usual. For now, Kensington Prospect will keep its look and feel, and, we hope, most of its wonderful contributors. Except it will be better: a hyperlocal site with the kind of resources that I deeply believe a community like ours needs and can support.

A bit of housekeeping: change of ownership means that from now on, the sites we will be operating under Patch Terms of Service (http://www.patch.com/terms) and Privacy Policy (http://www.patch.com/privacy).  All your subscriber information (including your E-mail) will be transferred to Patch starting August 21, 2011. If you do not want your data to be transferred, you may opt out by going to http://kensingtonprospect.com entering your email address in the top right corner and clicking “Unsubscribe” before August 21, 2011. If you do not opt out by this date, we will automatically begin the transition.

You can reach Mary at Mary.Bakija@patch.com, and you can email me at Liena.Zagare@patch.com, and we look forward to growing our sites to be the best online resource for our community. I will keep writing as I find time, and will be closely involved in shaping their future -- alongside Mary and all the other wonderful people at Patch who now stand behind them. Thank you all for being such dedicated readers over the years, and we look forward to continue serving you, making your voices heard and working together on making our community stronger!
