Greenmarket Update

Cold, hot, cold--the weather can't make up its mind, which is throwing fruits and vegetables off balance as they grow. Expect a good variety of produce at this week's Windsor Terrace Greenmarket, but don't be surprised if some of it isn't exactly perfect.

For instance, J. Glebocki Farms notes that greens will show some browning. But the cold weather does wonders for root crops like parsnips: The sugars are released in the plant, which acts like a natural antifreeze. Grab some parsnips now, and you can store them in the fridge for up to a month! It's Glebocki's Veggie of the Week, so here are some ideas for how to use it.

And as always, stop by Bread Alone for artisan bread, Williams Fruit Farm for a large variety of produce and the mums you see above, and American Seafood for fish. EBT/Food Stamps/debit/credit (8am-1pm), and WIC and FMNP checks are accepted at the information tent.
