Greenmarket Update

Farmers at the city's Greenmarkets were hit hard by Hurricane Irene, including one of our own, J. Glebocki Farm. That farm was the site of a press conference by Governor Andrew Cuomo, who announced $2.4 million from the state's Agricultural and Community Recovery Fund (ACRF) would be distributed to 125 farms to help New York's agricultural communities recover from Hurricane Irene and Tropical Storm Lee.

The farms still need help, and the best way for you to do so is to shop at the Greenmarkets.

Expect to see some fresh lettuce greens and radishes tomorrow from J. Glebocki, while cilantro is slowly making it back, along with some broccoli and cucumbers.

And as always, stop by Bread Alone for artisan bread, Williams Fruit Farm for a large variety of produce, and American Seafood for fish. EBT/Food Stamps/Debit/Credit (8am-1pm), and WIC and FMNP checks are accepted at the information tent.
