It's feeling like fall, and no place is that more apparent than at the Greenmarket. Dark leafy greens and more root vegetables have appeared, and summer squash is being replaced by heartier winter varieties.
"We are starting to see winter squash and other gourds, which is pretty exciting," says Heather Rubi, Windsor Terrace Greenmarket Manger.
J. Glebocki Farms confirms this, reporting they've been picking through the pumpkin patch to find healthy looking sugar pumpkins and mixed size pumpkins, gourds, and mini pumpkins. You can also expect to see leeks, their veggie of the week--check their site for a potato leek soup recipe, perfect for a rainy autumn day.
Heather says that so far there are no cancellations, so all the farmers should be at the Greenmarket tomorrow. There's also a possibility of a band in the afternoon. And stop by the information tent to learn how to pan-fry a flounder at a cooking demo.
