There's a lot going on with horses this week, and seriously, it relates to our neighborhood:
* The Barclays Center will host the Gucci Masters show-jumping competition in 2013, and Walker Blankinship of Kensington Stables tells the Wall Street Journal that he, for one, is excited: "I've always kind of dreamed of having rowdy Brooklyn cheering on a fancy horse show."
* A ban on funding horse meat inspections was lifted by Congress recently, and people worry slaughterhouses that would process horse meat for human consumption could be up and running in a month. If Kensington Stables hadn't lost a barn to what became a bankrupt construction project, maybe they could have saved a few more horses from the slaughterhouse?
* And finally, if you've got a little one who adores the ponies, a neighbor is selling a big collection of toy horses that her daughter has outgrown.
