About 300 people turned out for Safe Slope's Take Back Our Streets rally last night to show that this is a neighborhood that won't put up with sexual violence.
So many people showed up that police had to close off half of 4th Avenue to traffic, reports . Council Member Brad Lander was one of those in attendance, and he snapped a shot of the large crowd.
This is a great show of solidarity, but now what?
There are free self-defense classes starting up, the Community Board 7 Public Safety Meeting next week, and the police have insisted they're out in force trying to catch the scum that are perpetrating these attacks.
If you see someone that matches the descriptions of the attackers, you should report it--but to what phone number is still unclear. A commenter called the Special Victims number after hearing that you shouldn't call Crime Stoppers, and was given an earful about how she should have called Crime Stoppers (the officer eventually took her tip, though).
Were you at the rally? Are you taking any extra precautions when you're walking around the neighborhood?
