Some neighbors have come up with a pretty genius idea: People who are out walking their dogs will volunteer to escort people home from the Fort Hamilton and Church Avenue subway stations.
K9WaTch was formed as a response to the recent string of sexual attacks in the area--and following a Sunday nigth attack on Vanderbilt Street in Windsor Terrace, there's an urgent need for more people to volunteer so the program can get started.
Dog walkers and those without dogs are welcome to volunteer. Fill out the volunteer form at the K9WaTch website, and if you have any questions, contact walk@k9watch.org.
The group aims to launch the program in the middle of November.
