From Councilmember Brad Lander's office:
regarding intro-35A (Amended Local Law to amend the administrative code of the city of New York, in relation to the regulation of horse drawn cabs and repealing section 17-333 of the administrative code), which passed the City Council today by a vote of 43 in favor, 4 opposed and 1 abstention.
"I was pleased to be able to work with Stable Brooklyn, the Prospect Park Community Committee, and my council colleagues on Int 35-A, which will enable Kensington Stables to continue to be able to operate as the humane, community resource it has been for many years. In a neighborhood that used to be home to countless stables, Kensington Stables is a local treasure where children and adults learn how to properly care for horses. I thank Speaker Christine Quinn and her staff, as well as Councilmembers Koslowitz and Gennaro for working with us to make the continued operation of Kensington Stables possible. I am glad that horse riding will continue on as a Prospect Park tradition and that the horses in Kensington Stables will be well treated."
