It's hard to believe, but next week is September. That means we're running out of time to enjoy summery things, so make sure you get out to the water, pick up fresh produce at the Greenmarket, and stop by Uncle Louie G's before they close up shop for the season.
Both the Prospect Park Southwest and the Greenwood Ave locations are conveniently (or dangerously, perhaps) located near great playgrounds, so it can be a nice snack after some exhausting playtime. The PPSW spot has tables that you can hang out at, but they attract bees. Since it's so close to Prospect Park, you'll do best to take a scoop with you across the street.
They might not be the fanciest ices and ice creams, but it's tasty and relatively inexpensive. It's also approved by a wide range of people--last time I was there, people waiting in line included an EMT and her young son and a pair of officers from the 71st Precinct, which is located on the other side of the park.
