When a livery cab with a cones on its roof and police tape nearby appeared on Sherman Street, neighbors began wondering what it meant. Turns out that's Con Edison's way of warning you there is stray voltage present:
The cars are meant to keep people from walking near the electricity, and the cones and tape are in place to ensure no one gets electrocuted before repairs can be made.
Con Ed hired some cars when stray voltage was found (one driver said he was paid $200 for eight hours), but the electricity giant is not sure when they'll be able to fix the voltage problems--the car in the NY1 report has been there for six days. So steer clear of any strange looking livery cabs!
