Join BAM this MLK weekend for the 25th Annual Brooklyn Tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., featuring free music, film screenings, and visual art at the largest Brooklyn celebration of Dr. King’s legacy. A special encore screening of National Theatre Live: FELA! has been added to the MLK Day celebrations. Advance tickets for films included in The Susan Sarandon Picture Show go on sale Jan 17. Alan Rickman, Fiona Shaw, and Lindsay Duncan begin the second week of John Gabriel Borkman at the BAM Harvey Theater. BAM Rose Cinemas screens True Grit, Black Swan, The King's Speech, and The Fighter.

On Saturday, January 15, join us for a special birthday celebration in honor of beloved civil rights hero, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.(birthday programs continue through January 17 from 10am-5pm), the continuation of W.O.R.D. UP! featuring commemorative readings by Congresswoman Yvette D. Clarke (1pm) and a special dream art exhibit and mini-art workshop by Brooklyn-based artist Kristiana Pärn (2pm). The Museum’s annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Weekend will feature a variety of classic Museum programs created to educate, enrich, enlighten, and entertain while focusing on history, art, and culture for all ages. During this special holiday weekend, visitors will follow in the footsteps and explore the legacy of this great African-American leader and catch the vibe with storytelling and dancing at our Metlife Early Learner Performance: The Hat Seller and the Monkey.

Celebrating the incredible legacy of a true American hero, this annual free concert brings together churches, ministries, community leaders, and youth from all over Central Brooklyn to commemorate the tremendous personal sacrifice that Dr. King made for all African Americans and to promote unity and cohesion among youth and teens.
