Mulchfest, the annual Christmas tree recycling event from the New York City Department of Parks & Recreation, the New York City Department of Sanitation, and GreeNYC, is taking place on Saturday and Sunday, January 7 and 8, 2012.

The closest site for us is at Park Circle (the circle at Prospect Park Southwest and Ocean Parkway), and is one of the sites where they will be chipping the trees. You can drop off your tree, and bring home a bag of mulch--if you don't have a yard that needs it, consider laying down the wood chips around a new street tree.
