Next week is the first ever Muslim World Music Day, which will be celebrated with a free concert at the Schomberg Center at 7:30 by Bassam Saba on the nay, a reed flute, and the New York Arabic Orchestra.
Today, April 8th, you can catch an introduction to Muslim music on WNYC's Soundcheck at 2 and 10 p.m. Here's your chance to discover the rhythm and beat of your neighbors, their heartbeat. Too bad the music doesn't emanate from Kensington's sidewalks and newsstands. Maybe I wasn't listening hard enough.
