Natural Wonders Camp

Natural Wonders Camp

Registration has begun for Natural Wonders Camp, a unique camp that takes place in Prospect Park, where kids can learn about Native American herbal medicine and the magic of nature through traditional stories, plant identification, and making art. Run by herbalist and artist Heidi Langeneckert, the camp will have small groups of eight during each week in July. Each weekly class meets at 9am on the western end of Prospect Park West, directly across from the Pavillion Movie Theater.

Here are some things the kids will do:

• Learn how to identify medicinal and otherwise useful plants in the park
(with park permission)
• Make an Herbal Identification and recipe book
• Harvest, prepare and package your own herbal product: choose from a salve,
syrup or lotion
• Dye or Print your own T-shirt
• Make Art in our studio space across from the park (BSEC building @ 53 Prospect Park West) including 2 of the following per week:
• Watercolor painting
• Printmaking
• Make natural dyes from known dye plants, and experiment with finding new ones!

Kids will learn Native American Stories about medicinal plants and fun ways to identify and use them. We will also make Art using themes of nature, with high quality artist materials and techniques.
