At a City Council hearing last Wednesday, outer borough councilmembers questioned NYC Parks & Recreation on its assignment of the Parks Enforcement Patrol (PEP). Manhattan gets the most, 34, while Brooklyn, 10, and the Bronx, 9, get the fewest.
"Clearly, we have to fight for more resources to ensure our parks are being protected correctly — in all communities,” Councilwoman Melissa Mark-Viverito, the chairwoman of the Committee on Parks and Recreation, said in an interview after the hearing. “There really is a disparity.”
