Remembering Miss Hughes

Remembering Miss Hughes

A former student, Howard Teck, writes in the comments section about Julia Hughes, a retired teacher who was killed during the storm:

I was very upset to hear of Miss Hughes' terrible misfortune sat. I was in her 4th grade class back in 63-64, and she was there to try to calm all of our nerves when President Kennedy was assasinated. What a tough position a teacher had to have been in – to try to explain this tragedy toa group of 9&10 year olds. Well, she was also there to share in our enthusiasm when the Beatles invaded on Ed. Sullivan that far away Sunday nigh in Feb 1964.

Ill miss her- I havent seen her in so many years.
