Residential Parking Permits May Be Coming to New York City

The city council will be voting today on legislation that would allow communities in New York City . A certain number of curbside parking spots would be reserved for residents--at a cost, which is estimated may be between $20-100--but community boards would help the City Council decide if the idea would be right in their districts.
The push for the legislation comes as residents around the growing Barclays Center worry about finding a space at game time when the arena opens in about 10 months. on Councilwoman Letitia James, who says "an estimated 5,600 cars will be driven to an average event," but parking planned for the arena will only hold 1,100 vehicles, so the rest of those potential cars will have to find on-street parking.
We're far enough from the arena that we probably won't feel the effects, but given the choice, how would you feel about having residential parking permits in our neighborhood? And if you drive to different parts of the city, would you change your routine if the place you were headed had the residential restrictions?
