Yesterday's rally to support Engine 220 brought out Councilmember Brad Lander, Public Advocate Bill de Blasio, and Borough President Marty Markowitz, who all voiced opposition to its closure. They were joined by students from PS 107, who have been studying the importance of the firehouse in our area.
The Brooklyn Eagle noted that on yesterday's date eight years ago, six firehouses were shuttered, including four in Brooklyn. If the measure passes, eight fire companies in Brooklyn will be shut down.
A second rally is planned for this evening at 7pm with Assemblymember Jim Brennan at 530 11th Street.
