Shooting at Old Gallery Involves Off-Duty Cop, Disrupts F Train Service
A shooting involving an off-duty police officer at the Old Gallery Bar on McDonald Ave near 18th Street overnight has left one person injured.
It happened at about 4am this morning, and as a result, F trains have been bypassing the 18th Avenue stop in both directions. At this point you still can't drive through that intersection, either.
NY1 reports that one person was shot in the leg, and was taken to Maimonides, and the off-duty officer was unharmed. Additionally:
It's still unclear who fired a gun, how many shooters were involved and the exact sequence of events.
Officials say those taken into custody are only being questioned.
The Daily News identifies the victim by his street name,"Corrupt," and say he was actually taken to Lutheran. They spoke with witnesses who said it was a brawl that started in the bar and continued out into the street, where the shooting began. And a neighbor tells them it's nothing new:
Neighbor Ray Krawiec, 39, said the bar - known to regulars as "OGs" - has long been a trouble spot.
"Every morning, when I get up for work there's brawls going on," he said. "They're all spewing from that bar. That's a horrible bar."
