Shopping for a Christmas Tree

Since a few people have emailed in to ask us, here's a list of where to find Christmas trees in the area. Prices, sizes, and quality vary--if you have a favorite that you go to year after year, or if there's someplace that we missed, let us know.

Windsor Florist (135 Windsor Place, pictured above): They've got a pretty good range of trees, from little Charlie Brown ones for $15, up to pretty big ones that max out around $65, and they'll continue to get more through the month.

Windswept Farm (Outside of Our Lady's Field on 16th St): Coming down from Vermont and setting up on the sidewalk, they've got organic trees that sell for $10 per foot. They'll be out there 9am to 9pm, 7 days a week, until they run out of trees (which are trucked down and stored in a lot in Brooklyn Heights), which was on December 21 last year. Bonus: They're also selling maple syrup!

Key Food (589 Prospect Ave): If you want a tree to last a few years instead of a few weeks, the supermarket has a few small plastic ones (in a glittery green) for $20.

J&L Landscaping (702 Caton Ave at E 7th): If you have a huge space, they have a huge tree for you at $200. Otherwise you're looking at a big selection, with medium trees starting at $45.

Shanon Florist & Nursery (3380 Fort Hamilton Parkway): Slightly out of the way for some, but they also have a large selection of trees. A four-foot tree is about $30, and prices go up from there.
