Sign Up for Winter CSA Shares

Would you like to pay ahead then pick up a big box of organic vegetables and eggs once a month all winter long? Then a winter CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) share may be for you, and there are TWO available in the area this season.

The KWT CSA's Garden of Eve Winter shares consist of a pre-boxed, once-a-month pickup of approximately 15-20 pounds of the farm's own organic vegetables, and 1-3 dozen of their pastured organic eggs. There are two types of shares available. Winter Share prices for 2011-12 are $280, plus a required box deposit of $2 per month, or $12 total, for a total of $292 for the season. You will receive $2 back for every box you return to the share site. You can pick up your boxes on Saturdays from 10am to noon at Brooklyn Commune: December 3, January 7, 2012, February 4, March 3, April 14, May 5. Sign up online here.

Another option is Winter Sun Farms, which partners with local sustainable farms to supply a wonderful winter share of great tasting frozen and storage vegetables all winter long. Expect package of individually quick frozen or pureed items like tomatoes, broccoli, butternut squash, and berries. See exactly what's in a winter share here. Pick-ups are also at Brooklyn Commune, but they are on the second Tuesday of the month from 5 to 7:30pm. Sign up online here.
