Statement from Wolf Sender

Statement from Wolf Sender

We have received the following statement from the Community Board 12 District Manager Wolf Sender:

I am very glad that I was informed of the existence of this blog. Your activism on behalf of the wonderful community of Kensington, a vital portion of our district is commendable. I only wish that some of those bloggers who live in Kensington would call or come to the board office and ask me some of these questions before posting accusations and expecting the community board to deliver to the neighborhood services and monies which we do not have the power to do.  I generally don’t read or react to blogs but anyone here can feel free to reach me in person or by phone. I can be reached most of the day and if I’m out at a meeting you can always leave a message and I will return the call. You will quickly find that there is no lack of transparency - if you pick up the phone.....If you plan to visit the office, please call first and make sure that I will be in...the CB office is at 5910 - 13th Ave. bet 59 and 60 st.  Phone # is 718-851-0800. And of course you are all welcome to attend our monthly board meetings which are usually held the fourth Tuesday of each month at 7pm. Each meeting begins with a public session, where anyone is welcome to bring up any issue affecting this district

Here are some thoughts we had:

We think it would make quite a bit of difference if CB12 meetings could take place in Kensington once in a while (say PS230?), if there was advance notice of the calendar of when committee meetings are scheduled (currently all the committees meet "as needed", whatever that means), and minutes and agendas published on their website for all to know.

That way people would know what the issues are that the CB12 is working on on their behalf - is the parks committee working on geting more funding for Dome playground and pushing for more green spaces in the district? Are the folks on transportation committee raising hell about the constant violations of parking rules and lack of traffic enforcement on Coney Island Avenue? Which are the active committees and which haven't met in years?

And they  can always check with the folks at Community Board 14, who are doing an incredible job disseminating information.

Lastly  - Jole Carliner who writes for the blog has been to many of the  CB12 meetings this year, and did actually call the board to clarify on the notes, as we mentioned in the previous posts, so the accusations seem rather odd.
