One of the vacant stores on Fort Hamilton Parkway has been rented, and a neighbor learned that it's going to be a coffee shop. From Deanna:
At the spot to the left of Brancaccio's (Ft Ham between E 2nd & E 3rd), where the deli used to be, there has been construction recently. Today, it was open with people checking stuff out, and I asked what was up. Turns out some Kensington locals are opening a coffee place called Steeplechase... they hope to be open by July 1 (or even before). Yippie!
Maybe it will have ornate decorations like the entrance to Coney Island's Steeplechase Park, or perhaps "a round punch card with the smiling face," for frequent coffee buyers, like the ones, according to the Brooklyn Eagle, they used at the park to account for rides taken.
