When Theresa from Sean Casey Animal Rescue was visiting a friend in Puerto Rico, she learned that when you work with animals, you can never take a vacation. On her last night there, a stray dog wandered up to the outdoor table where she sat. The dog was friendly and not afraid of people. After the restaurant staff confirmed that the dog didn't belong to anyone, Theresa went to work on bringing the dog, now named Tanzie, back to SCAR.
Tanzie needed to be checked out and vaccinated before flying back to New York. We went to the pet store and got a referral to a local vet. Dr. Negron of the Guayama Veterinary Clinic checked Tanzie, dewormed her and vaccinated her. Priscilla had a carrying case for me to borrow and I called the airline and added Tanzie to my reservation. Everything was in place and all in just a few hours!
Theresa and Tanzie landed safely in New York, and the dog visited the local vet for another checkup and to be spayed. The trip was a complete success--Tanzie has already been adopted!
