The Teen Battle Chefs are profiled in today's Daily News, and it sounds like the lessons have already resonated for the participating kids:
Felicia Romain, 17, said her team bested the competition in a recent match by whipping up mussels Provencal with linguine.
"I'm really competitive," she said. "I wouldn't even dream of making mussels because that looks like a hard dish, but it's not."
She repeated the mussel dish for her family at home and said it was a hit - and she has also started substituting steamed fish for fried in family meals.
There are two remaining battles before the teens open up the Youthmarket on Fort Hamilton Parkway:
Friday, June 24
Friday, July 8 (Teen Battle Chef graduation and sponsor thank you party)
