Tennis Court fees set to double

Tennis Court fees set to double

and today is the last day to comment. An upset neighbor posts on the local listserves:

Parks Dep't plans to go forward with a massive increase in permit fees -- from $100 to $200 annually, and $7 to $15 per play.

We have exactly ONE DAY to submit comments opposing these increases.  One thing we've learned is that a few concerned citizens can actually influence city policy, so click here to post a comment.

We recommend pointing out that the tennis fees are fundamentally unfair -- they're much higher on a per person basis than softball fees, pool permits, use of lit fields (where the city has to pay for electricity!) or any other organized sport (compare the proposed fee increases in other sports here).

And worse, the city doesn't even perform basic maintenance on the courts or provide consistent, trained attendants.  We pay and get nothing in return.

We have to fight this or we'll all be paying for our failure to do so for years to come.  Please comment today.  It will be too late tomorrow.
