The Weekend Word: Sing Your Heart Out at Shenanigans Pub

What you need to know this weekend.

1. Take advantage of the return of the nice weather today with a bit of bird watching. There are more than 250 species living in Prospect Park, so take a and learn to spot at least some of them. Introduction to Birdwatching, 12-1:30 p.m., Prospect Park Audubon Center.

2. has switched to its spring schedule, so bring by your fruit and veggie scraps Saturday anytime from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. Come back on Sunday for the first of three Street Gardening Workdays, in which volunteers will help build tree guards along the Newkirk Avenue corridor. Compost for Brooklyn is located at Newkirk Avenue and East 8th Street. 

3. What do you get when you blend Irish pub culture with the Japanese tradition of karaoke? You get Saturday night at , in which host Eddie Mac will play all of your requests (provided they're available on his Mac Book) while you warble along. Shenanigan's Pub is located at 802 Caton Ave.

4. The Irish contributed more to American culture than just green beer and Bono. Join Green-Wood historic fund tour guide Ruth Edebohls on Walking Tour, and learn about some of the lives of notable Irish-Americans who now call Green-Wood home. Green-Wood Cemetery is located at 500 25th St. Tickets are $10 for members, $15 for non-members.
