Tree Hacker Gets Community Service

Tree Hacker Gets Community Service

A 25-year-old man named Francisco Marxuach was given two days of community service for chopping down the ginkgo tree in front of 352 E. 8th St.

The New York Post says the the charges will be dismissed in six months if he stays out of trouble.

Meanwhile The Smoking Gun gets a motive out of the tree-killer: he says he once lived in that building, and wanted to retaliate against a neighbor who had been “very disrespectful” to him.

So, two days of community service and charges dismissed in six months? Come on, judge, make the punishment fit the crime. How about he purchase and plant and care for a new tree!
