Compost for Brooklyn is busy this fall, and they've got an interesting bunch of workshops coming up, outlined below, or visit their events page for full details.

And don't forget--if you're free this Thursday afternoon, stop by the garden at Newkirk and East 8th Street to help plant daffodils!

Nature journaling for kids
Saturday, September 24, 2-4pm
Maria Newsom-Fahey will be leading a nature journaling workshop for kids aged 7 and up in the garden. Bring a notebook with unruled paper (or $4 for supplies), and get ready for a scavenger hunt, drawing, and other urban nature-discovery activities!

Make your own laundry detergent
Sunday, September 25, 2:30-4pm
Eli Colasante will lead an interactive workshop on homemade cleaning products and detergent. Join us at the garden to make your own batch of detergent to take home and try out! Suggested $4 donation for materials.

Make your own medicinals
Tuesday, October 2, 2-4pm
Herbalist Kristy Bredin will help participants learn how to make simple, food-based herbal medicine preparations with local plants. Bring a 4 oz or smaller jar, apple cider vinegar, and, if you have some handy, scissors and/or paring knife--or a $4 donation to cover extras.
