Who Said That? Our Great Horned Owl Neighbors

Amateur naturalist Matthew Wills reported seeing a Great Horned Owl in the neighborhood over the weekend, which was most likely one from our very special resident owl couple.

Green-Wood Cemetery is home to the only mating pair of Great Horned Owls in New York City. The birds mate for life, and these two have been living at the Cemetery for about four years. The City Birder has the most recent update on the pair, in which they learned the owls are big fans of racing pigeons--as snacks, anyway.

So if you hear some stereotypical hooting nearby, that's who it is.
