World's Fair a Success

World's Fair a Success

Jasmina Nikolov, one of the organizers of today's Kensington World's Fair, emails:

I am still reeling!  The organizing committee faced so many challenges leading up to the event that we were pleasantly surprised by how smoothly it went.

This was the first event in Kensington at which many members of different cultural communities were represented.  Truly a triumph for such a diverse neighborhood - perhaps one of the last truly diverse areas of Brooklyn.

A neighbor shared a great story about an elderly man on East 4th st. who spent the entire morning the Fair, calling people over to his porch to praise the event.  So many people were excited about the event.  I really feel like it has energized the community.

Your photos and anecdotes welcome!
