1. Woodstock Library budget passes (hudsonvalleyone.com) — Woodstock voters have approved the 2027 Woodstock Public Library District budget, bringing a 5.69% tax levy increase that adds about 77 cents per month for a $350,000 home. The higher spending will cover operating costs at the new Dixon Avenue building, a part‑time clerk, and wage increases, while four trustees were elected to guide the library's next several years.

2. Woodstock hires architects to accelerate affordable housing on town-owned land (hudsonvalleyone.com) — Woodstock's Town Board has hired architects to fast‑track affordable housing on town‑owned sites, aiming to break ground as early as next year if federal funding comes through. Officials also set a hearing on a tougher false alarm law to ease pressure on volunteer firefighters and are pushing Ulster County to lower the Glasco Turnpike speed limit within town limits.

3. The Woodstock Film Festival Announces Feature Narrative & Documentary Lineup (iloveny.com) — The Woodstock Film Festival is returning October 14–18 with dozens of feature films, documentaries, panels, and live music events spread across venues in Woodstock and nearby Hudson Valley towns. Local residents can tap discounted HV Locals ticket packages, buy passes or individual tickets online, or visit the Rock City Road box office in Woodstock, where many screenings and special events will be centered.

4. Domestic violence victims want Ulster County Legislature to take action (dailyfreeman.com) — Ulster County domestic violence survivors are pressing legislators for stronger protections, better police training, and more coordinated services, and local residents can immediately reach help through Family of Woodstock's 24-hour hotlines. County leaders say they're forming new task forces and lethality assessments, while advocates insist the system still fails victims who risk their lives trying to leave abusive partners.

5. Family of New Paltz Reflects on 50 Years of Service (newpaltz.edu) — A regional crisis‑support nonprofit that began in Woodstock in 1970 is marking 50 years of its New Paltz branch while continuing to run hotlines, shelters, and food programs serving Woodstock, New Paltz, and Ellenville. Leaders say cuts to SNAP and rising housing costs are driving more local families to seek help, and they're gearing up for a Thanksgiving Turkey Trot fundraiser to sustain services.
