17-Year-Old Accused Of Having Child Porn On Cell Phone

The teen was charged as an adolescent offender, police said, because of his age.

YORKTOWN, NY — A 17-year-old Yorktown Heights resident was accused of having child porno on his cell phone.

The Yorktown Police Department said, shortly before 6 p.m. April 14, a call was received about an adolescent having images of child pornography on a cell phone.

A detective was assigned to the case and, with the assistance of the Westchester County District Attorney's Office, images of the pornography were recovered from the device.

Around 11:15 a.m. Wednesday, the teenager was charged with possessing an obscene sexual performance of a child, a felony.

Because of his age, he was charged as an adolescent offender and his name was not released.

The 17-year-old was arraigned in the Youth Part of the Westchester County Superior Court. The case was removed to Family Court and sealed.

He was released on his own recognizance to his parents.
